Our Story
Renee and Rob have a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry. Renee, a chef with over 20 years of experience, previously worked in Melbourne before opening her own café and restaurant in Bangkok. Rob, an operations manager, has worked in various countries including China, Thailand, Indonesia, Denmark and Portugal. After returning from Thailand, the couple opened their own boutique hotel in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.
The innovations of technology that as a small business we have been able to keep up with and importantly implement – such as the front office reservation system, solid Cisco Technology WiFi, smart TVs, IP security cameras etc.
The large number of friendships that comes from owning a small intimate business. We have gained many friends over the years that we share Christmas celebrations with and stay in touch with via lunches in the Yarra Valley plus converse with over social media.
Finally and perhaps most satisfying of all is that we’ve seen our 4 daughters grow up into young women here and we’ve had the flexibility to be involved in their lives significantly over the years – including the very special time 6 years ago where they were bridesmaids at our wedding. It is proof that it is possible for a husband and wife to work together for an extended time and be happy and successful!
I think our ability to ride the ups and downs of business along the way. The stress as young business owners that comes from the addition of many competing properties in our area, through the 2008 financial crisis to the recent 3 years of Covid struggles – we are very proud of the fact that we are still here and ready to launch into the next successful chapter.
